My wife’s "Work Husband" is at our house more than I am
i (38M) work late shifts. my wife (36F) has a "work bestie" named Dave. they text 24/7 about "inside jokes." last night i came home and he was on our couch drinking wine with her because he had a "bad day." she says i’m being "insecure" and that he’s "basically a brother." but i’ve seen the way they look at each other. am i being Ghostlighted?
The Breakdown:
- She Said: It’s a platonic support system.
- He Said: It’s a blatant Emotional Affair.
The Science: This is an Extra-Dyadic Relationship. Even if it isn't physical, the "Emotional Labor" she is giving Dave is being stolen from her husband. It’s a breach of the Consistency Contract.
The Solution: "I'm not okay with another man occupying the emotional space that belongs to our marriage. The 'Work Husband' vibe is crossing a line. If he's a friend, he's a friend of the couple, not just you behind closed doors."
